Description:
The General Duty Radiation Therapist (GDRT) at CancerCare Manitoba provides clinical radiation therapy services to cancer patients while also participating in the education of radiation therapy students, oncology residents, and other staff. Reporting to the Senior Radiation Therapist and Clinical Resource Radiation Therapist, the GDRTβs assignments include treatment, simulation, and coverage of other areas within the Radiation Therapy Department depending on clinical experience. The role requires working operational hours from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and may involve days and modified shifts.
The incumbent is responsible for delivering safe, accurate, and high-quality care to patients, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures. The position emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and professional development, with active participation in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives. The therapist may also provide clinical instruction to students and peers, demonstrating leadership, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
Candidates must hold current CAMRT registration, CPR-BLS certification, and demonstrate a strong employment record. Preferred qualifications include recent treatment and simulation experience, a CT Therapy Certificate (CTRT), familiarity with ARIA RO systems, Varian Linear Accelerators, Siemens CT, and fluency in French is an asset.
