Description:

The Health Care Aide (HCA) position involves providing patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The role includes direct care for clients in their homes, assisting with personal care, activities of daily living, emotional support, respite care, health care duties, and housekeeping services. This position is located approximately 140 km SW outside of Calgary City Limits or approximately 80 km SW outside of Lethbridge City Limits.

As an HCA, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide personal assistance and support services to patients in accordance with care plans and facility policies. Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs, observing and reporting on patient well-being, and maintaining a safe environment. This role requires effective communication with patients, families, and health professionals.

    • Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire
  • Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
  • Certification as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Effective verbal and written English skills
  • Well-developed time management and interpersonal skills

    • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with computers and operational programs
  • Medication Assistance Certificate or prior experience
  • Recent experience in the health care field working with older or chronically ill individuals
  • Home Care Experience Preferred
