Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Social Worker to join their team in the Eastern Zone, focusing on Mental Health and Addictions in Port Hawkesbury. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive services to adults with mental health and addiction disorders. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, treatment planning, and providing clinical services to patients with complex mental health disorders.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters of Social Work with a specialization in a clinical or mental health stream, be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work, and have at least two years of clinical experience in an inpatient/outpatient mental health setting. Competence in assessment, intervention, and research is required, as well as knowledge of evidenced-based interventions and the ability to complete mental health assessments and diagnosis using the DSM-5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and treatment planning
  • Provide professional clinical services to patients with complex mental health disorders
  • Deliver group treatment approaches and education to clients, families, and communities
  • Integrate organizational values and principles into services provided
  • Qualifications:

  • Masters of Social Work with a specialization in clinical or mental health
  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work
  • Two years of clinical experience in mental health settings
  • Competence in assessment, intervention, and research
  • Knowledge of evidenced-based interventions and DSM-5
  • This is a permanent, part-time position with 37.5 hours bi-weekly. The compensation ranges from $40.18 to $54.14 hourly, with benefits including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
