Description:
The Laboratory Technologist provides essential diagnostic testing for physicians and healthcare providers, performing routine and specialized laboratory procedures independently. Responsibilities include processing, testing, resulting, and reporting diagnostic samples, maintaining quality control programs, keeping accurate records, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments. The technologist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results for patient care.

This role requires knowledge of medical laboratory principles, techniques, and practices, including phlebotomy, and the ability to maintain complex laboratory equipment. The position demands professionalism, effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining patient confidentiality. Commitment to continuing education and professional development is expected.

Candidates must be certified as a Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist in Canada and a member in good standing with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). Experience in an accredited laboratory, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and the ability to work shifts and on-call duties are required. A degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field is considered an asset.
