Description:

This position is based out of Foothills Medical Centre in a very dynamic and fast-paced Diagnostic Imaging Department. The role involves providing high-quality service during MRI examinations, working all shifts, and being on-call. The MRI Technologist I will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for diagnosis and disease tracking. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, and maintaining MRI equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician
  • Prepare and position patients for examination
  • Review patient history and explain procedures
  • Respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure
  • Maintain MRI equipment
  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program or certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Successful completion of CAMRT registry exam in MRI
  • Member in good standing and current registration/eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT)
  • Enhanced practice for Venipuncture
  • Ability to work confidently, independently, and within collaborative partnerships/teams
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively liaison with various professionals
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Practices effective infection control and MRI safety techniques
  • BLS certification
  • Preferred: Cardiac MRI experience, Enhanced practice for Medication Administration, Central Venous Access Device Use Authorization, IntraOperative experience
