Description:

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Medical Director, Medical Affairs- Gastroenterology in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This role involves providing scientific leadership for the J&J Gastroenterology TA Strategy, overseeing evidence-based expertise, and leading the National Medical Education and Evidence Communication plans. The Medical Director collaborates with internal and external partners, contributes to global/regional strategic planning, and manages a team including an Associate Medical Director and Scientific Advisor. Responsibilities also include developing and deploying the medical strategy, leading launch readiness processes, and managing clinical protocols.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and deploying the medical strategy for the TA
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders
  • Leading launch readiness processes
  • Representing Canada on global teams
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external investigators and opinion leaders
  • Identifying data gaps and developing Data Generation Plans
  • Championing Investigator Initiated Studies
  • Developing and executing publication strategies
  • Leading, managing, and developing a team
  • Providing strategic leadership and coaching
  • Maintaining scientific expertise through attendance at conferences and training sessions
  • Qualifications / Requirements:

  • PhD or MD preferred; PharmD or MSc with experience considered
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a medical/scientific function in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
  • Experience with direct people leadership
  • Knowledge in gastroenterology and Medical Education/Medical Communications is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of GCP, IMC code, and Healthcare Compliance policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with KOLs and non-experts
  • Strong project management skills and ability to impact decision making
  • Experience developing and executing product strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual English and French preferred
  • Travel estimated to be 20% of time
  • Position located in Toronto with hybrid work schedule
