Description:

This job posting is for a Medical Laboratory Assistant position at Shared Health - Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. The role involves assisting the laboratory with sample triaging, accessioning, and processing of specimens, as well as performing basic routine procedures and phlebotomies. The successful candidate will maintain a safe environment, comply with quality assurance programs, and uphold professional standards.

Previous related experience is preferred, and candidates must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent, with a preference for a Medical Laboratory Assistant program. Certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science is also preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Windows computer environment required.
  • Microsoft Office programs preferred.
  • Medical terminology preferred.
  • Sterile techniques and routine practices preferred.
  • 50 - 55 wpm keyboarding skills an asset.
  • Apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills required in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Work under pressure.
  • Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
  • Fluent language skills (written and oral) in both French and English may be required.
  • Ability to perform duties as described.
