Description:

The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is seeking a Medical Secretary to provide administrative support for laboratory operations and professional staff. Responsibilities will include coordinating confidential medical reports and correspondence, participating in the development of standard work, assisting in the preparation of statistics and research papers, preparing committee materials, and maintaining financial records. The role also involves entering laboratory specimen information into the Meditech database and maintaining various databases.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Community College Medical Secretarial program or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology relating to Laboratory Medicine
  • Proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
  • Proficient computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems
  • Experience with Meditech, Excel, Word, Windows 98, and Outlook 2000
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and establish priorities
  • Experience within a Laboratory environment is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of Peoplesoft System and Internet design and maintenance is a strong asset
