Description:

Humber River Health is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join their team at the Wilson site. This part-time position involves providing Occupational Therapy services to patients in the Medicine and Surgery programs within the acute care setting. Responsibilities include assessment, treatment, discharge planning, workload measurement, and clinical supervision. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, and previous experience in an acute setting. Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are essential.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Providing Occupational Therapy services to both the Medicine and Surgery program patients within the acute care setting.
  • Provide appropriate assessment and treatment for referred patients.
  • Recording patient assessment, progress and discharge status.
  • Providing discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team members, including applications to other resources.
  • Recording workload measurement data.
  • Work as a member of the health care team regarding services provided.
  • Provide consultation to other disciplines in the area of physical medicine.
  • Clinical supervisor of Rehabilitation Assistants.
  • Clinical supervisor of students, including Occupational Therapist and/or OTA/PTA students.
  • Travel and cross coverage to both the Wilson and Finch locations may be required. Access to a vehicle for cross site coverage will be an asset.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario required.
  • Membership in CAOT preferred.
  • Previous occupational therapy in an acute setting experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of tasks and work efficiently.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a valuable part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
