Description:

Currently hiring for an existing vacancy, the Personal/Home Support Worker provides personal support and homemaking services to clients and families within VON policies. This position is eligible for a temporary wage enhancement from the Ontario Government.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observes and evaluates the client's or family's home situation and care plan.
  • Contributes to the development of the care plan under the direction of the Program Manager.
  • Implements changes to the care plan for safety and financial reasons.
  • Reports changes in the client's needs to the supervisor.
  • Performs personal support tasks and provides personal care as directed.
  • Provides respite care, supports families, and organizes daily activities.
  • Assesses communication patterns and ability to relate.
  • Functions in compliance with health and safety regulations and VON policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Promotes VON's goals and values and ensures a safe workplace.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff in service delivery.
  • Engages with supervisors on client plan changes.
  • High school diploma, CCA Certification in Nova Scotia, and relevant certifications required.

    • Skill Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good assessment skills and awareness of community resources.
  • Ability to adjust to different environments and adhere to confidentiality.
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle, driver's license, and insurance.
  • Current Criminal Records Check and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
