Description:

This Pharmacy Technician position is part of the Edmonton Zone Home Parenteral Therapy program and reports to the program's Manager. Responsibilities include order entry, preparation, repackaging, and final product checking of sterile products and patient prescriptions. Tasks also involve preparing hazardous and non-hazardous medications, managing controlled drugs, inventory control, and infusion pump programming. The role requires building relationships with healthcare team members, ensuring timely medication delivery, and supporting medication safety and reconciliation processes. Additionally, the position involves maintaining department work areas, participating in special projects, and preparing reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products
  • Receiving and triaging medication orders
  • Compounding and repackaging medication
  • Preparing sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products
  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Demonstrated organizational, decision-making, teaching, time management, and communication skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a large acute care hospital setting
  • Recent sterile compounding experience within the past year
  • Ability to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and walking, and lift/carry up to approximately 20 pounds
  • Preferred experience with Connect Care, Kroll, and Home Parenteral Therapy (HPT) within the last 6 months
