Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program

Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician

Demonstrated organizational, decision-making, teaching, time management, and communication skills

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a large acute care hospital setting

Recent sterile compounding experience within the past year

Ability to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and walking, and lift/carry up to approximately 20 pounds

Preferred experience with Connect Care, Kroll, and Home Parenteral Therapy (HPT) within the last 6 months

As an integral member of the Pharmacy Department and Edmonton zone Home Parenteral Therapy program, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible and accountable for the technical aspects of drug distribution within the overall medication use process in accordance with professional standards and organization policies. Ensure timely delivery of medication to patient's residence and HPT clinics within the Edmonton zone. Support the safety of the medication distribution process, the Medication Reconciliation process through the accurate gathering and documentation of a patient Best Possible Medication History (BPMH), and other quality improvement initiatives. Maintain department work areas by ensuring tidiness and order. Participate in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics, and preparing reports as required. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking as this role requires daily IV room work and medication prep, dispensing, and packaging for delivery. Also, must be able to manually operate and program the ambulatory pumps and lift/carry patient medications and equipment up to approximately 20 pounds. Preferred Qualifications:Connect Care and Kroll experience with computer medication order entry, IV mixture and unit dose drug distribution an asset. HPT experience (within the last 6 months).
