Description:

Discovery Community College is looking for a dedicated Practical Nurse Instructor to teach Lab and Clinicals at their Nanaimo, BC campus. This role involves mentoring and shaping the next generation of nursing professionals through engaging instruction. The position offers 28-30 hours per week with potential for future instructional opportunities.

Start date: Monday, January 05, 2026

End date: Friday, February 27, 2026

Rate Range: $33.00-$40.00/hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday (7:30am to 2:00pm) For In-person Lab

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in lab and clinical settings.
  • Execute lesson plans using preset curriculum that aligns with PTIRU compliance (extensive in-house curriculum orientation and training provided).
  • Provide hands-on training and supervision in clinical environments.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in nursing education.

    • Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2,800 hours of nursing experience, inclusive of either maternity or mental health or Acute Care.
  • Current full registration with the BCCNM as an LPN, RN, or RDPN -- required.
  • Previous instructor experience is an asset.
  • Experience with Office 365 and Student Information Systems (SIS) is an asset.
  • Strong communication and mentorship skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive educational experience.
  • Ability to travel to local sites within the region.

    • Required Experience:

  • In a Long-term Care, Maternity or Mental health or Acute Care in Canada within the last two years, or relevant experience.
