If you are interested in working within an inter-professional team to provide comprehensive services for clients in Rural South Home Care, the Recreation Therapist II - Lead position may be for you. This role involves delivering high-quality therapeutic recreation services, program leadership, and system-level support to ensure evidence-based and person-centered care. The successful candidate will support Adult Day Programs and Seniors Health services through assessment, treatment planning, and program evaluation. Collaboration, best-practice implementation, and quality improvement efforts are key responsibilities across diverse teams and service areas.

As a Recreation Therapist II, you will lead in ensuring evidence-based, patient-centered care in accordance with policies and standards. You will coordinate assessment, treatment, education, and care of patients, participate in program development, and provide clinical support and consultation. Collaboration with the health care team, participation in patient rounds and family conferences, and effective communication are essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or Recreation and Leisure Studies
  • Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA)
  • Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist
  • Minimum three years of leadership experience supporting Adult Day Programs
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, model, and promote evidence-based best practices
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills
  • Effective organizational, critical thinking, and systems-thinking abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Connect Care, and virtual platforms
  • Knowledgeable in Seniors Health standards, protocols, policies, and living options
  • Skilled in program planning, development, facilitation, and evaluation
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage time effectively in fast-paced environments
  • Able to handle, move, and lift equipment or individuals up to 40 lbs for client care and program delivery
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rural practice experience
  • Experience with experiential and distance learning, consultation, teaching, research, and self-directed learning
  • Strong assessment, coaching, and adult education skills
  • Experience with Calgary Zone systems and operations
  • Connect Care Super User experience
  • This position is offered by Covenant Health and requires a driver's license and vehicle. The Temporary Employee Class is Temp P/T Benefits, and the hours per shift are 7.75, with a shift pattern of Days, Evenings, and Weekends. The minimum salary is $39.48, and the maximum salary is $52.50.
