Description:

The Specialty Pharma Nurse - Registered Nurse delivers and monitors specialized infusion, injectable, or oral pharmacological treatments in the home and/or clinic setting under the direction of the Specialty Pharma Supervisor and/or Specialty Pharma Nurse Manager. Responsibilities include monitoring patients for infusion reactions, documenting procedures, and maintaining effective communication for patient safety and satisfaction. Specialized training is provided, with opportunities for professional growth and development in infusion services.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and review individualized nursing care plans.
  • Conduct patient health assessments and medication administration teaching.
  • Obtain IV access and administer specialized pharmacological treatments.
  • Provide patient care, perform nursing duties, and report adverse events.
  • Perform specialized nursing procedures and maintain required training.
  • Observe and document patient conditions, report adverse events.
  • Complete all other requested duties.

    • Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program with a BSN degree.
  • Current registration with provincial nursing regulatory body.
  • Current BLS certification, ACLS certification for clinic role.
  • Chemotherapy-Biotherapy course completion is an asset.

    • Experience

  • Experience in acute care and administering specialty pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience with home care, critical care, infusion clinic, or oncology preferred.
  • Exceptional peripheral IV initiation skills, central line experience is an asset.

  • Exceptional patient assessment and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage relationships and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks.
  • Read and interpret technical instructions, transcribe physician's orders.
  • Valid driver's license required.
