Description:

The General Internal Medicine Program at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton consists of highly-rated Clinical Teaching Units that focus on acute medical care and geriatric assessment. The interdisciplinary team provides primary, secondary, and tertiary care to a diverse patient population with various medical conditions. The team works collaboratively to deliver high-quality, safe, ethical, and effective care to patients and families.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton provides patient-centered and evidence-informed care to promote health and treat health conditions. The RN collaborates with the inter-professional team to deliver a full range of care to patients, including those with complex needs and high acuity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • Current BCLS/HCP certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity, and expertise in the care of seniors and their families.
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach training preferred.
  • Recent related general medicine and/or geriatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients/clients and families.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Demonstrated basic skill level with computers and patient information systems required.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Recent related nursing experience in a clinical teaching environment preferred.
  • Current CPI training an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a fast-paced environment required.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain flexible and adapt to crisis situations required.
