Description:

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) team at Toronto General Hospital. This is a temporary full-time position for a one-year contract.

As a member of the CICU team, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing care plans, implementing interventions, evaluating outcomes, providing patient education, and advocating for patient rights. The nurse will also be expected to document patient records and perform other duties as required.

Qualifications for this position include current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification, and two years of recent cardiology experience. Previous CICU/ICU experience is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment (collecting data for patient health)

Planning (identifying care plan priorities)

Implementation (performing interventions)

Evaluation (assessing outcomes)

Providing patient education

Advocating for patient rights

Documenting patient records

Other duties as required

Qualifications:

Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification

Two (2) years recent cardiology experience

Completion of a recognized Critical Care Course

B.Sc. N. preferred

Previous CICU/ICU experience required

Closing Date: December 11, 2025**Position Summary** As a member of the Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) team, the Registered Nurse will practice in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.**Duties** The principle responsibilities include:

* Assessment (systematically collecting data about the health of the patient for initial screening, on-going or selected in-depth assessment in order to determine diagnosis)
* Planning (identifying priorities, target dates, strategies or interventions in order to contribute to the individualized care plan and achieving optimal outcome for the patient)
* Implementation (safely and effectively performing the strategies and intervention directed by the care plan)
* Evaluation (systematically evaluating the extent to which the best possible outcomes have been achieved)
* Providing educational guidance to the patient group
* Documenting patient records
* Acting as patient advocate by protecting and promoting patient rights
* Performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
* In addition, following the provision of further continuing education by the unit's educator, the CICU nurse will be responsible for caring for patients with invasive arterial and hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous veno-venous renal therapy dialysis, and much more

**Qualifications**

* Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
* Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (A.C.L.S) certification is an asset
* Two (2) years recent cardiology experience
* Completion of a recognized Critical Care Course
* Capable of complying to the physical demands of the unit
* Evidence of commitment to team building and working within a patient focused care model
* Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
* Ability to work effectively and demonstrates composure under pressure/stressful conditions and to meet multiple and competing demands
* B.Sc. N. preferred
* Previous CICU/ICU experience required
