Basic Requirements

Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;

Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standards;

Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this knowledge in the clinical setting;

Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;

Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental education activities;

Demonstrates the ability to assess the patient's learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching;

Demonstrates a respectful attitude to patients, the public, and colleagues;

Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues, and other health professionals;

Ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment;

Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self-evaluation;

Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years medical surgical experience;

Current consolidation experience in cardiovascular care;

Experience with cardiac monitoring / arrhythmia interpretation;

Recent course in coronary care, critical care, or UOHI Cardiac Nursing Series;

Experience reading and interpreting 12 lead ECG;

Member of RNAO;

Member of CCCN.
