Alberta's Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program offers an opportunity for Registered Nurses to kickstart their careers with support and guidance. The program spans 12 months and consists of two phases: an Enhanced Orientation phase where you will be paired with a Clinical Guide to develop a personalized learning plan, and an Independent Practice with Support phase where you will have access to a mentor for ongoing support. Upon completion, you will transition to Recovery Alberta.

As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, as well as play a leadership role in patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Provisional Permit holders will receive a specified hourly rate until obtaining a full license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations
  • Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
  • Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
  • Reflect the shared vision and values of the organization in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care

    • Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Eligibility for Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the program start date
