Step into your nursing career with confidence by joining Alberta's Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program. Whether you prefer urban centers or rural communities, this program offers opportunities for new Registered Nurses to grow into their roles with support. The program lasts 12 months and consists of two phases: Enhanced Orientation and Independent Practice with Support. During the program, you will have access to experienced mentors and ongoing support to help you thrive in your nursing career.

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while ensuring their safety and well-being. You will use critical thinking and decision-making skills to deliver quality patient-centered care and play a leadership role in supporting holistic approaches to health promotion. Provisional Permit holders will receive $39.58 - $54.16 per hour, with an adjustment upon obtaining a full license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Eligibility for Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the program start date
  • Review UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to interview
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 6 months of acute care medical/surgical nursing experience post-graduation from an Alberta nursing program
