Step into your nursing career with confidence by joining Alberta's Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program. This program is designed for recent Registered Nurse graduates who are ready to launch their nursing careers. Whether you prefer urban centers or rural communities, opportunities are available in this 12-month program that consists of two phases.

Phase 1 - Enhanced Orientation pairs you with an experienced Clinical Guide to develop a personalized learning plan. During this phase, you will not be counted in staffing numbers and will have the flexibility to adjust the duration based on your learning needs.

Phase 2 - Independent Practice with Support allows you to transition to independent practice while having ongoing mentor support. After completing this phase, you will apply for vacant positions within a similar practice setting.

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as play a leadership role in patient care. Provisional Permit holders will receive a specified hourly rate until obtaining a full license.

  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Physical capability to perform all aspects of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Basic computer skills, strong leadership, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to patient and family-centered care and collaborative working relationships
