Description:
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join the Inpatient Mental Health team. The RPN will collaborate closely with other health care professionals to incorporate current evidence and best practices into patient care plans. The unit provides care across adolescent beds, adult wards, and a psychiatric intensive care unit, creating a dynamic environment for mental health nursing.

The RPN will be responsible for conducting ongoing risk assessments, identifying risk factors for self-harm behaviors, and responding promptly to patient reactions using de-escalation techniques. Strong physical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a commitment to quality improvement, professional development, and reflective practice.

Qualified candidates will hold current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, an RPN diploma, B.C.L.S. certification, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification. Experience with psychiatric populations, knowledge of CBT and DBT principles, and additional mental health training are considered assets. The role requires strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, along with the ability to organize and prioritize care within the inter-professional team.
