The Research Technician II will join the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre research team to support protein science research in a collaborative and dynamic environment. This role involves establishing and optimizing protein expression systems across multiple hosts, including bacterial, fungal, insect, and mammalian cells. The position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and gain experience in diverse expression systems.
Key responsibilities include performing protein purification using various chromatography techniques, maintaining detailed laboratory records, preparing reagents, and ensuring proper maintenance of laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will collaborate with students and staff to support structural, biochemical, and functional studies of recombinant proteins and contribute to troubleshooting and optimizing purification protocols for improved yield and quality.
Qualified candidates should have a Masterβs degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field, with hands-on experience in protein expression and purification. Familiarity with AKTA or equivalent chromatography systems is an asset, and expertise in membrane protein purification is a strong plus. Candidates must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
