Description:
The Respiratory Therapist provides therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching respiratory therapy services at the Portage Regional Health Centre, consistent with professional standards. The role works to full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education, and maintains competency according to Southern Health-Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, the Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT) Code of Ethics, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

The incumbent exercises independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods while assisting patients across a culturally diverse population. Responsibilities include direct patient care, technical support, and teaching in clinical settings, as well as adherence to safety and quality standards. This position requires flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends and occasional travel to other regional facilities.

Applicants must be registered with the MARRT, have BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications, and demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. A valid Class 5 driver’s license, insured vehicle, and liability insurance are required. Respect for confidentiality, cultural diversity, and professional ethics is essential.
