Description:

The Allied Health Services (AHS) team at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre consists of various Regulated Healthcare Professionals, including Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, and Rehabilitation Assistants. The team focuses on evidence-informed practice to provide high-quality patient and family-centered care. Each discipline has a professional practice leader (PPL) model to enhance the interprofessional team.

We are currently seeking a Temporary Full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support acute care and ambulatory services, including adult and pediatric asthma and pulmonary function clinics.

Education and Experience:

  • Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario - required
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications - required
  • Previous experience in critical care and pulmonary function testing - preferred
  • Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) or Certified Asthma Educator (CAE) - preferred

    • Responsibilities:

  • Care for mechanically ventilated patients
  • Assessment and modification of mechanical ventilation
  • Airway management, intubation, and extubation
  • Administration of aerosolized medication and pulmonary function testing
  • Arterial punctures, tracheostomy management, and home oxygen assessment
  • Assisting with bronchoscopies and high-risk patient transport
