A Smile for All: Expansion of Canada’s Dental Care Plan

Oral health is a critical component of overall well-being, yet many Canadians lack access to affordable dental care. Recognizing this, the Canadian government has expanded the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) to include all eligible adults aged 18 to 64, starting June 1, 2025.

The CDCP aims to provide comprehensive dental coverage for uninsured Canadians with an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000. Services covered include routine check-ups, cleanings, fillings, and more complex procedures.

This expansion is a significant step toward reducing health disparities and ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent individuals from receiving necessary dental care. By investing in preventive oral health services, the government anticipates a decrease in emergency dental visits and associated healthcare costs.

The CDCP’s growth reflects a broader commitment to universal healthcare and the understanding that oral health is integral to overall health.
